I made my own jewelry for the first time today! My husband always has told me that I have to have some hobbies. It's been for 2 years since I have moved to America from South Korea. When I moved to America, I had no friends or family in America. Everything was so different: food, culture, and everyday life. My only hobby was, and still is, exercising. When my husband was not at home, I felt lonely and depressed. The only thing that I could do was clean up the house. My husband thought I needed something fun that I could do really regularly and for a long time.
Today, he brought me to some craft stores and let me look around. I have always been interested in fashion. I was a model for some online clothes stores in Korea and sold some clothes and jewelry as well. At the craft stores, I couldn't stop looking at the jewelry supplies and t-shirt decorating materials. I had some really good ideas on my head. However, this was my first try, so I wanted to go little bit slow. I turned to the jewelry supply section and thought so hard. What kind of style do I like? What kind of jewelry do I want to make? Oh yeah! I love things that are vintage, unique, and meaningful.
My husband and I both have the same first initial: K. One "k" on my necklace is lower case, and the other "k" is uppercase. They're for me and my husband! I know it's kind of too sweet for some of you, but I like it! It's the only one in the world.
My bracelet actually has a lot of meaning. I know it's charm bracelets are a pretty popular style, but I wanted to make it a little more vintage with some other colors besides silver. Also, the bracelet I made has its own pattern that has special meaning only for me! How special it is?
I think it was a pretty good start for my first day of making made jewelry. Actually, it was way way cheaper than buying these from a store. I barely spent $45 on these. If I try to buy jewelry like this in a store, it would be more than $50 for sure. Plus, no store has this style jewelry. I am so happy!
I might go back to the craft stores to buy some more supplies. My mother-in-law really liked my jewelry, so I am going to make her the same jewelry but with different meaning for her. I can't wait to see her happy face! I love you mommy!
